About the event
Dr Frederick Koh is a colorectal surgeon at Sengkang General Hospital (SKH) with an academic interest in prehabilitation to combat sarcopenia and improve outcomes in surgical patients. He is currently completing his PhD in Clinical and Translation Sciences with Duke-NUS investigating the regulatory mechanism of sarcopenia in surgical patients, mentored by Prof Teh Bin Tean and A/Prof Iain Bee-Huat Tan. Besides publishing in numerous peer-reviewed journals and conducting both population-based and trial-based research, Dr Koh has experience in mentoring students and junior doctors for research.
He will be sharing about his research journey and the less-trodden path as an academic surgeon. Join us to learn about life as a surgeon-scientist, how to get involved with research early as a medical student, and tips on finding a research mentor!
